Christmas
Christmas Party at Banshee!
ATTN PARENTS
SHOPPING FOR KIDS (Or spouses or other loved ones)!
I will try and update this every few months with new links but if the links are out please email me to remind me.
So it has come to my attention many people seem to need Christmas shopping help! Here is a comprehensive list with links to mostly on sale stuff for your ease! Of course you Grandparents and others can always contact me for a lesson package, horse leases or even a mother daughter trail ride or the like is always a great gift!
(PLEASE… stay away from buying saddles and over personal items that are specific to the horse. Misfitting this item can harm the horse and rider so it’s best to buy this with the help of a fitting from a professional. We have someone on staff if you need help.)
Feel free if you find something off the list to PM or text me with questions 936-537-2539 (give 24 hr response allowance). Some have links but some should be common sense and I don’t want to promote a certain brand. But here is a quick guide:
(also please note while horse.com is great site the shipping takes FOREVER so order early)
Adults
Tools they will love (Disclaimer these are all things I use that people always say they wish they had):
Cones (helps mark trailer area and working horse in arena)
Screw driver (flat head mostly, used for bit changes ect.)
Hammer
Gloves (work gloves)
Needle nose pliers
Ratchet straps
Monkey wrench
Spare clips (rein clips, lead clips, nice clips for trailers)
Other ideas (go to any feed store and hand them list)
Tube of electrolytes
Extra buckets
Latex gloves
Bandage supplies
Duck tape
Box of rags
Adults who haul with their own trailer
Trailer Jacks
Drive on Jack (only works in tandem axle) https://a.co/d/8QvriGP
Tools
Jump Box THIS IS THE ONE I RECOMMEND and please know what size you need before ordering! https://a.co/d/e5Mhuch
Full tool kit KNOW IF VEHICLE IS METRIC OR STANDARD!!! http://www.autos.com/auto-repair/auto-ratchet-set-us-or-metric-which-one-should-you-buy
Socket set… Again metric or standard vehicle, just google make. I will begrudgingly say Harbor freight brand is ok for light use tools, NOT for power tools.
Satellite GPS, a lot of rodeo places don’t have cell service!
Travel Size Compressor (that plus into port in vehicle, link is random, not one I use) https://a.co/d/7kEacuH
Tire gauges
Trailer Chalks (or just drill a hole in some nicely sanded 4×4 and put rope handle)
4 way (bonus points if you get a cheater bar)
2 and yes they need 2 because they are for pulling out mats from trailer nice easy to use vise grips.
Mud Kit – Yes they need mud gear…
Recovery rope
Shackle/clips
SHOP LOCAL FIRST!!! These guys made great gear and our friends of ours! https://www.treatyoakoffroad.com/
Tracks (disclaimer this below link is not brand I carry but something along these lines. What I use is a little pricey Tred Pro https://www.amazon.com/BILLET4X4-TRED-PRO-Recovery-Extraction/dp/B01LWY754K )
Better Price
Don’t forget this is why you keep an old crappy saddle blanket and can use that in emergency to help you out of mud or lay under your trailer.
GENERAL GIFT MOSTLY FOR YOUTH
Whips (easy and every mid level rider wants one at some point)
These are for barrel racing (QUIRTS AND OVER&UNDERS)
https://www.horse.com/item/cowboy-tack-collection-racing-over-and-under-whip/E034760/
These are for basic riding
https://a.co/d/dgq36c9
These are for round pen training or lounging
https://a.co/d/hluYVn5
Saddle Blankets (Western)
These go under saddle and can be used from horse to horse (rule of thumb is to spend more than $100 unless a good sale and be careful to know your child’s color choices and this is an important piece so it’s better to wait then go cheap)
Cheaper
My Personal Preference is a Todd Slone (I can personally attest they will last 20 years if cared for) https://www.southtexastack.com/tod-slone-saddlery/tod-slone-medium-contoured-saddle-pad-1-inch-9210

Bridles (headstalls) (you will have to eventually buy a bit and possibly a curb chain)
Stay away from nylon or things that look that they would rub the horse funny/cause sores. If it’s too rough for your naked skin it has no business on a horse.
Also I recommend neutral colors so as their colors of taste change it will still match.
You need to basically know horses size but usually all quarter horses are about the same size and that’s that I’m showing here. So if you think horse might be on smaller side you want to look for bridle above side buckles to be same size all the way up which allows more holes to be added for additional adjustment. None of this is junk I just randomly grabbed some ok and then high end stuff for this list.
BUY LOCAL FIRST OPTION! www.nohitbits.com They have nice bits and lots of really nice headstalls. You can snap the current headstall or bit and I bet they can help you out! Plus these guys have been around forever. I own a few pieces from them and love them.

Sport Boots (VERY AWESOME GIFT and they wear out with use so we always need a set, preferable 2 sets so one can be cleaned while other is in use like everyday running shoes)
Most quarter horses are a medium so it’s a safe bet unless they ride a very large or very small horse. Please stick to the main brands on the market being Professional Choice, Classic Equine, Pro Choice (there are a few others I included below). DO NOT GO CHEAP HERE!!! You can go cheap on brushes but never boots! They need front and back but just front are fine for most of the time. Bell boots are more important than the full sport boots.
Bell Boots (front hoofs)
Sport Boots (the will love you for as long as you get right color! My personal preference is Iconoclast brand but they are boring colors)
Fronts only
